Project Summary

YE Planet is the developer of the Sustainable Forest Management, Restoration and Conservation of the Forest of the Municipality of Gracias. The project activity involves the protection and conservation of 27,593 hectares of forest, in addition to the reforestation of 1,380 hectares. Implemented from 2022 to 2042, planted and managed by the municipality, communities and YE Planet. The project activity will mean a mitigation of -87,192,880 tCO2-e throughout the project activity with a reflection of –158.9 tCO2-e/ha/year. The YE Planet Sustainable Forest Management, Rural Landscape Restoration and Forest Conservation project is a municipal/community project implemented in the deforested and degraded forest are as of each of the communities in the municipality of Gracias Lempiras. The project are a is close to the core and buffer zone of the Celaque Mountain National Park protected area. The project will promote the conservation of forests and the recovery of degraded or deforested areas through agroforestry systems, pure plantations of high commercial value, etc. All these activities will sustainably benefit from ecosystem goods and services (water, wood, erosion control, improvement in soil fertility, etc.). The YE Planet project team will promote the production of seedlings to be planted by producers in SAF, training, monitoring, development of the wood value chain, access to the market, registration of plantations.

Main Social Impact

The main social impacts that the project will grant to the inhabitants of the municipality are the maintenance, increase and protection of forest resources, guaranteeing the benefit provided by ecosystem goods and services, mainly the fight against the harmful effects of climate change, improving the quality of everyone's life.

Main Environmental Impact

The main environmental impacts provided by the project is to guarantee, through the maintenance of forest cover, the availability in quantity and quality of water for human consumption and for production activities.
